Creating Generations of Beautiful Smiles
Tooth Accident Leads to Complex Treatment Plan – 55 Years Later!
Multidisciplinary Team Joins Forces in Unusual Restoration Project
(Issued Winter 2019) — When Jane Floyd smiles, you’d never know that many of the teeth you see are not where they used to be.
Jane’s ‘teeth story’ started at age six at a Vermont school when she fell and broke a new front ‘adult’ tooth. The local dentist couldn’t put the tooth back. As Jane grew, her teeth shifted dramatically. In fifth grade, her parents took her to an Orthodontist where she was fitted with a retainer.
She was self-conscious about her smile throughout school, while serving in the National Guard for six years, and working as a bank administrative assistant: “I got tired of looking at my crooked, jutting teeth and bad spacing,” she laments. “A niece called me ‘uni-tooth.’ I joked that the song ‘All I want for Christmas…’ was about my front teeth.” (Photos: Jane’s ‘before’ and ‘after’ smiles)
While planning her first marriage – a late first love at age 61 – Jane decided it was time to finally fix her teeth and her smile. Along with spacing, asymmetry was an issue because so many teeth had shifted positions through the decades. Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics shares, “In cases like Jane’s, our Orthodontist acts as ‘quarterback’ for the highly trained and experienced multidisciplinary team.” In this case, the team included a general dentist and a periodontist. The treatment plan included altering Jane’s gum lines as well as the use of several crowns following her orthodontic treatment and set up.
He says, “Key to successful outcomes is close collaboration and coordination among team members and the patient, cutting-edge diagnostics, and ongoing patient communication. The best reward is the gratitude, success and personal growth experienced by Jane who now enjoys a healthy and normal-looking smile. This great outcome is something we value, especially in the most challenging cases.”
Dr. Chase adds, “Our incredible team addressed issues including tooth size, tooth shape, tooth position, missing teeth, gum health, and bone health as well as desired overall appearance. This involved taking Jane’s input and very creative thinking, and sharing the patient’s and team’s design and desired outcome in order to have achievable, amazing and enduring results. We had to meet esthetic needs, time constraints, and investment parameters.” Jane, so excited about the results, says, “They succeeded and exceeded in all areas, Everyone who sees me says, ‘You look so different with two front teeth.’ And there’s a huge change in my bite and my self-image.”
Dr. Chase says, “It is wonderful to have a team that gives their all to ensure a fulfilling Orthodontic experience and outcome. This is an extraordinary case with phenomenal results which truly expresses the passion with which we approach each unique case to create a life-altering change.”

Local Orthodontists Introduce a ‘Magic Wand’ — Intraoral Digital Scanning for More Precise Outcomes
(Issued Winter 2019) —ARCH Orthodontics has introduced a ‘magic wand’ that can aid in patient diagnosis and treatment. According to Dr. Andrew Chase, the iTero intraoral scanner is a leading-edge digital technology game-changer that enables patients to better visualize and understand their overall oral health and view their exam in real time — while allowing doctors to more efficiently and effectively assess and address spacing and bite issues. It also improves impression accuracy for better-fitting aligners.
ARCH is scanning all patients who are candidates for this type of technology, or where doctors feel it would usage would enhance their treatment planning and outcomes. ARCH has 9 offices between Boston and Hyannis.
“We’re continuously seeking new technologies and techniques,” says Dr. Chase who’s been practicing since 1998 and is a past President of the Mass. Association of Orthodontists. “With our proven track record of improving smiles for well over 30,000 patients of all ages, ARCH understands that when you’re unhappy with your smile, it’s hard to feel confident. We build confidence.”
The digital scanner technology improves patient experience because, with treatment simulation, patients know what to expect and are more confident in their diagnosis and treatment plan. Enhanced scanning captures images at 6,000 frames per second to create precise 3-D dental images. It is especially useful as an Invisalign outcome simulator. Digital scans can be shared with other dental professionals. Clear aligners are one of today’s most popular teeth-straightening aids as they’re effective, removable, and virtually undetectable. Another benefit is ‘time lapse’ technology which captures tooth wear, recession, movement over time, and answers common questions such as ‘Are my teeth drifting?’ and ‘Are my gums receding?’ It dramatically/ and graphically shows patients the potential results of clenching, grinding and, sleep issues, and shows how cosmetic work will look. Digital scans can be directly sent to a lab, improving communication and hastening digital workflows.
ARCH Orthodontics is among the first practices in its service area to certify that its offices are 100% gluten-free. This is important for those with celiac disease or gluten sensitivity. Surprisingly, gluten is a common additive in dental products containing plastic. In addition, dental equipment may have non-dietary gluten that can heighten symptoms.
Among other ARCH Orthodontics’ leading-edge offerings are: custom-made mouth guards; orthotic devices to relieve sleep apnea and TMJ/neck pain; and a new type of appliance that can speed alignment, often cutting treatment time by 50%. ARCH also offers 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT), making possible a higher level of diagnosis, treatment and outcomes.

Local Orthodontist Uses High-Tech Device to Relieve Patient’s Teeth Pain While Speeding Braces Treatment
(Issued WINTER 2019) — Jessica Grigoriadis, a 38 year-old Westwood mother of three, was suffering from excessive, non-stop mouth pain. She had braces and thought the pain was caused by a combination of three things: clenching her teeth while asleep, braces, and fibromyalgia that makes nerves hyper-sensitive. She says, “I couldn’t sleep and was taking pain relievers around the clock.” (Photo: Jessica and son, also an ARCH braces patient)
At her next appointment at ARCH Orthodontics’ Westwood office where Dr. Andrew Chase was addressing Jessica’s crowded teeth and recessed jaw issues, Treatment Coordinator Amanda DeJesus discussed Jessica’s unrelenting pain and brought it to Dr. Chase’s attention.
The team suggested using AcceleDent® in conjunction with Jessica’s braces. AcceleDent was developed to accelerate teeth movement into desired positions, guided by braces. It also can ease discomfort sometimes associated with wearing braces.
“By combining the AcceleDent device (see photo) with braces,” Dr Chase says, “we relieved Jessica’s pain without interrupting her Ortho regimen.” The patient puts the hands-free AcceleDent mouthpiece around their existing braces for 20 minutes a day. Gentle micropulses travel through tooth roots into nearby bone, speeding up the movement of teeth into the desired position 50% faster while reducing pain by up to 71%.” The treatment is approved by the FDA and has been used successfully by thousands of patients since 2009. Jessica says, “By the fourth day, I started noticing the difference. I definitely get a much more restful sleep as I don’t wake up with pain. It’s great to feel more rested and it’s easier to get up when that alarm goes off! I use Acceledent every evening. I no longer wake up feeling like I clenched my teeth all night. I appreciate this opportunity to share my story and to help others.”
Another patient, an anxious bride-to-be, came to ARCH less than a year before her wedding. “With AcceleDent, we completed her Orthodontic therapy in time for the photos on the big day,” smiles Dr. Chase.

Promoting Healthy Smiles and A Healthy Community Stoughton YMCA Receives New Member Lanyards from ARCH Pediatric Dentistry
Marking ‘Member Appreciation Week,’ the Stoughton Branch of the Old Colony YMCA recently accepted a donation of a supply of lanyards from ARCH Pediatric Dentistry. The popular blue lanyards, ideal for carrying keys or ID cards around the neck, feature YMCA and ARCH contact information. Pediatric Dentist Dr. Karissa Koster of ARCH (shown at right) said, “This symbolizes our long-term relationship with the Y since we are both committed to meeting the needs of the towns we serve with a common goal: to build stronger, healthier communities where people of all ages learn, grow and thrive.” Shown accepting the donation from Dr. Koster is Ben Green, Stoughton Y Branch Associate Executive Director.
ARCH Pediatric Dentistry is part of ARCH Orthodontics, which over the years has supported the Y’s annual ‘Healthy Kids Day,’ and has sponsored a pediatric dental program for parents. The coverage areas for both entities overlap as ARCH operates 9 offices from Boston to Cape Cod and the Old Colony YMCA has 7 locations between Stoughton and Plymouth.

Local Orthodontist Uses 3D Cone Beam Technology for Unmatched Diagnosis, Treatment, Outcomes
(Issued Winter 2018-19) — Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics says the introduction of 3D Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) at the practice’s Bridgewater office makes possible a higher level of diagnosis, treatment and outcomes. He says, “3D CBCT technology provides us with the opportunity for the best decision-making and outcomes.”
Simply put, 3D CBCT is a medical imaging technique in which the X-rays are divergent, forming a cone. During imaging, the scanner rotates around the patient’s head, obtaining some 600 distinct images. Dr. Chase says,” This displays the anatomic truth. You don’t know what you can’t see.” A 3D rendering provides an undistorted visualization of erupted and non-erupted teeth, tooth root orientation, and anomalous structures. Conventional 2D radiography cannot give the same pictures.”
Dr. Chase says, “Once we discover the complete situation and analyze diagnostics, we can explain and visualize findings with the patient and co-manage conditions with colleagues, even for the most challenging cases. 3D CBCT technology is one of the best ways to help doctors evaluate for challenging teeth that are impacted and risk damage to healthy teeth. It also provides a realistic view of airway obstruction which plays a significant role in sleep apnea. Quality sleep is key to improving overall health and well-being, while it drastically enhances performance in school, work and sports. Early diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea can forestall afflictions related to chronic fatigue including heart disease, hypertension, memory loss and other serious conditions.”
ARCH operates 9 offices between Boston and Hyannis. Dr. Chase says patients may be referred to the Bridgewater office from other ARCH offices and area colleagues when 2D radiography doesn’t provide the full picture or when target areas are indistinct, distorted, or don’t show up at all — leading to incomplete diagnoses: “The cone beam shows in 3D what the doctor sees, what needs to be done, and how and why we recommend a particular approach. It illustrates to those without technical knowledge the issues they face and solutions. CBCT diagnoses are extraordinary, enabling us to provide the finest individualized care. It can also help find undiagnosed problems, sometimes after patients have seen other experts. Patients value this and the peace of mind we provide.” Along with Orthodontic assessments, CBCT imaging can better show airway abnormalities, periodontal structures, endodontic problems, placement sites for temporary anchorage devices, and sources of TMJ pain.
ARCH Orthodontics offers free consultations – a $500 value – and no-interest financing. No Need for ‘Scary Smiles’ on Halloween: Local Orthodontist’s Tips to Prevent Broken Braces, Tooth Decay
October is National Orthodontic Health Month
(Issued Fall 2018) — October is National Orthodontic Health Month, timed to culminate with Halloween, and reminding everyone – both kids and adults – which treats to avoid to prevent damaging braces. One-third of today’s braces patients are adults.
Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics, says, “Year-round we advise patients on braces care. During October we highlight what foods and Halloween loot to avoid to prevent breakage of braces, aligners and other Orthodontic appliances.”
“To prevent ‘Scary Smiles,’” he adds, “Avoid sticky situations and say ‘boo’ to hard, sticky, crunchy or chewy candy and snacks such as caramel, gummies, licorice, taffy, bubblegum, jelly beans. nuts, taco chips and popcorn. Brushing and flossing are more important than ever during the Halloween season,”
Each year Americans spend $9 billion on candy. Much of that ends up on the teeth of 41 million trick-or-treating children across the U.S.
Yes, there are braces-friendly treats. For kids with braces, it may seem like they can’t enjoy holiday treats, But there are many options to choose from, including soft chocolate, gelatin treats, Ice cream, smoothies, apple cider. Dr. Karissa Koster of ARCH Pediatric Dentistry in Stoughton a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), reminds parents and caregivers that it’s important to pay attention to the types of treats children eat, both to prevent damage to braces and to limit tooth exposure to sugars and cavity-causing bacteria She advises that before kids go trick-or-treating, they should eat a well-balanced meal so they won’t fill up on empty calories and sugar.
To mark Halloween at each ARCH office, the patients who comes closest to guessing the number of candy corns in a jar will win an Amazon gift card. There will be a costume contest at ARCH offices on Tues., 10/30 in Bridgewater and on Wed., 10/31 in Orleans, Brockton, Stoughton and Westwood.
Dr. Chase says, “Parents should call now to take advantage of our $99 New Pediatric Dental Patient Special that includes Exam, X-rays, Fluoride and Cleaning — a savings of $250 (for patients with no insurance.) For Orthodontic patients, ARCH offers free initial consultation (a $500 value), and interest-free financing. Orthodontist Warns Against ‘Do-It-Yourself’ Orthodontics
“A worrisome and potentially dangerous new trend”
(Issued FALL 2018) — Would you try doing wheel alignment on your car? Probably not.
So when it comes to ‘teeth alignment,’ you shouldn’t try to do it yourself. But in a worrisome and potentially dangerous new trend, some people — hoping to improve their bite and smile at a reduced cost — are turning to programs involving ’doctor-directed’ remote instructions, videos and virtual office visits.
Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics, now in its 45th year and operating nine offices between Boston and Cape Cod, strongly warns against such high-risk decisions: “After dental school (4 years) Orthodontic specialization requires an additional 2-3 years and some 3,700 additional hours of training. Your teeth, jaw and smile create your first impression, so moving teeth should never be managed from 1,000 miles away. Do-it-yourself Orthodontics can cause permanent loss of teeth and lifelong dental problems.”
He adds, “We have documented cases where patients caused irreversible damage to their teeth and supporting bone, resulting in loss of anterior teeth. There’s no mechanism to know the health of the gums and bone without an in-person expert evaluation. Moving teeth, even in the presence of a mild issue, may create major problems as tooth movement will rapidly exacerbate the damage being caused. The problem with periodontal concerns is that they predominantly go unnoticed by the patient because there is rarely any pain — until they are too late to resolve easily.”
“‘Doctor-directed’ usually means by a general dentist — not an Orthodontist,” Dr. Chase stresses. “In addition to post-doctoral training, Orthodontists amass thousands of hours of continuing ed throughout their careers. In contrast, dentists may take a short course to be ‘certified’ in aligner therapy, but that’s not equivalent to Orthodontic training.”
Dr. Chase says, “If the goal is fewer visits to the Orthodontist, we can tailor a program for you. The most important take-home is our commitment to oversee the process from start to finish, being fully engaged in the health and well-being of each patient. We never ‘send you out on your own’ to manage your care and progress with our fingers crossed that nothing goes wrong — like those aligner warehouses are doing. We are always here to discuss your case personally.”
The American Association of Orthodontists says self-treatment programs can do more harm than good — and cost more. “In the end, you may need to pay again to fix mistakes,” says Dr. Chase. It sounds good to ‘bypass the middleman’ (Orthodontist), but we really know best how to ensure that the teeth and jaw fit together properly. You need to start with an in-person assessment and work with a professional who keeps track of your progress and diagnostic records,”
ARCH Orthodontics offers free consultations – a $500 value – and no-interest financing. The practice offers a courtesy discount to those currently serving in the military, veterans and members of their immediate families, as well as to municipal employees and their immediate families. Winning Smile a Key to Teen’s Pageant Wins
Gives Credit to Westwood Orthodontist
WESTWOOD, MASS. (Issued Summer 2018) — In 2014, as a Westwood 7th grader, Kiersten Khoury won the title of International Junior Miss New England Pre-Teen.
At the time, she wore braces. She and her mom credited Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics in Westwood for making the straightening process smooth and comfortable. ARCH’s office is at 745 High Street.
Rather than allowing braces to stand in her way, Kiersten embraced them. Her mom Dr. Dawn Khoury said, “To have the confidence on stage in front of hundreds of people and present yourself with confidence — and being interviewed by judges — are skills that will benefit Kiersten throughout her life. Much of this starts with a beautiful, confident smile.”
In 2015, she became Miss United States Massachusetts Junior Teen. Last November, Kiersten, now 17 and a Westwood High, senior, placed in the ‘Top 15’ in the Mass. Teen USA Pageant. In June, she won the title of Miss Massachusetts Teen America. Judging in the 14-18 age category is based on an interview, formal wear, and fitness. In November, she’ll compete again for Miss Massachusetts Teen USA, which leads to the national Miss Teen USA Pageant.
Three years ago, when the wide-eyed seventh grader learned that ARCH was the ‘Official Orthodontist of Miss Massachusetts,” she asked if there was a way to meet the reigning Miss Mass., Meagan Fuller. Dr. Chase and ARCH’s PR consultant Stan Hurwitz helped make it happen. Their meeting helped to bolster her dream. (Photo left to right: Meagan Fuller, Dr. Chase, Kiersten Khoury)
Dr. Chase has worked with thousands of patients from 4 to 8 and says people gain self-confidence and smile more when their teeth are properly aligned: “A beautiful smile can make a difference in your life – psychologically, socially, professionally, and from a health standpoint.”
Dawn Khoury says, “ We’re grateful to Dr. Chase who made our daughter’s natural smile even more beautiful. I continue to make referrals to ARCH. Our 14 year-old son Colin is having his braces removed soon, and 10 year-old Kyler will get braces soon.” She and her husband regularly refer patients with jaw and neck pain who come to their Khoury Chiropractic Centre for Health & Wellness in Dedham to ARCH for TMJ disorder treatment.
Community service and volunteering are important to Kiersten. She volunteers with Toys For Tots, the Lupus Foundation, the Make a Wish Foundation, Relay for Life, the Westwood Friends Network, and the Westwood High Friendship Club. She says, “I try to be the antithesis of what everyone thinks a pageant girl is. I can show people that it’s not all about the hair, makeup, and fake eyelashes. It’s really about the person you are. If I can impress even one person with the way I speak or the way I carry myself, that’s the most important thing.” And then she flashes her beautiful, infectious smile.
In the recent ‘Hometown Best 2018 Readers’ Favorites poll, ARCH Orthodontics took honors as ‘The Best Orthodontist in Westwood.’ As part of its 44th year of service, ARCH is offering free consultations for all ages – a $500 value – and no-interest financing. The practice gives a courtesy discount to those currently serving in the military, veterans and members of their immediate families. A similar offer is available to Town of Westwood employees and their immediate families. For more info or to schedule a free consultation, call (781) 329-1150 or visit www.archorthodontics.com. ARCH has 9 offices from Boston to Hyannis.

Orthodontist Ella Osborn, DMD, CAGS, joins ARCH Orthodontics
“I get immense personal satisfaction from transforming smiles and lives.”
(Issued Summer 2018) — Dr. Ella Osborn who earned her DMD degree magna cum laude and her MS in Dentistry (MSD) and Certificate (CAGS) in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, has been named to the Orthodontic team at ARCH Orthodontics which operates 9 offices from Boston to Hyannis.
Making the announcement was Dr. Andrew Chase who says Dr. Osborn will primarily see patients of all ages at ARCH’s Hyde Park and Westwood offices. Here are excerpts from a recent interview:
When did you first become interested in a career in Orthodontics?
I really became aware of the transformative power of Orthodontics during and after my own Ortho treatment. My teeth were misaligned and, growing up, I never really smiled because I was shy and didn’t want to show my teeth. Once braces gave me a beautiful smile, I immediately became happier and more confident. I felt like a new, different, better version of myself. It was a singular event that altered the course of my life.
Why did you decide to join ARCH?
ARCH is a true team where every member is valued, respected, and nurtured to evolve, improve and grow. While what we do is serious, the atmosphere is fun, quick paced, vibrant and dynamic. I think ARCH chose me because I love to connect with and help patients. I’m excited about what Orthodontics can achieve and want to share that gift with everyone.
What excites you most about Orthodontics?
Your smile is what people notice first. It’s contagious and infectious. It makes others smile and spreads happiness. It conveys confidence and competence, and invites trust. These qualities are so important to us as adults, but are even more valuable during the formative teenage years. They form the blueprint of your whole disposition and the direction a child’s life can take. We can radically make changes at all stages of life that will resonate for a lifetime.
Are there new treatments and technologies patients might want to learn about?
I love using Invisalign to correct not just simple Orthodontic malocclusion, but significant conditions that previously could only be done with braces. We apply new technology to make treatment better, faster, easier, more comfortable and more predictable. Minimally invasive techniques and appliances such as Acceledent and Propel help speed up tooth movement and decrease treatment time,
Want to share a few other things about yourself?
I’ve devoted to volunteering and spent two years as Community Service Chair for the American Association of Women Dentists for two years, and have treated hundreds of patients in need of dental care in Central America. In my free time, I like to travel, work out, cook, read and explore new places.
ARCH offers free initial consultation (a $500 value), and interest-free financing. Veterans and members of the military and their families receive a courtesy discount. For more info and/or a no-obligation appointment, contact (781) 209-6776.

A New ‘Reason’ to Choose ARCH Orthodontics
Dr. Marisa Reason Joins the Practice’s Hyde Park (Boston) Office
(Issued Summer 2018) — There’s a new ‘Reason‘ (with a capital ‘R’) to trust your family’s smiles to ARCH Orthodontics!
Dr. Marisa Reason has joined ARCH Orthodontics, seeing patients at their Hyde Park (Boston) office, 1259 Hyde Park Ave. ARCH has 9 offices between Boston and Hyannis.
In making the announcement, ARCH’s Dr. Andrew Chase said, “We are excited to add Dr. Reason’s high-level clinical skills and experience to help patients of all ages improve their oral health and appearance, their smiles and their self-confidence. Her dedication to our profession, patients and community is in concert with our history of ‘creating generations of beautiful smiles.’” Dr. Chase’s father, Dr. Robert Chavez founded ARCH 45 years ago.
Dr. Reason recalls her career path decision: “I became interested in Orthodontics when I was a 13 year-old Orthodontic patient who feared doctors and dentists. But my Orthodontist put me at ease. The staff was happy and passionate about their work. I thought if I could be an Orthodontist, I’d fulfill my love for the sciences, my passion for the arts, and innate ability to connect with people. ARCH was highly recommended by a colleague and faculty. After I shadowed their staff, I understood that ‘excellence’ is their watchword.”
A graduate of Vanderbilt University with a Pre-Dental concentration, Dr. Reason earned her DMD at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine followed by her CAGS/MSD in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in the Advanced Orthodontic Training Program at the Boston University Henry M. Local Pediatric Dentist Addresses Young Parents’ Concerns
(Issued Summer 2018) — When Karissa Koster was 10, she got braces. And that’s when she made her career choice!
She recalls how impressed she was with her family Dentist and Orthodontist, how they worked so meticulously to keep her mouth healthy, her teeth straight, and her smile pretty. Something clicked. “That’s when I knew dentistry was for me,” she smiles. As they say, the rest is history.
This past year, Dr. Koster, a graduate of Stonehill College who earned her dental degree at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, became the first Pediatric Dentist on the staff at ARCH Orthodontics, a 44 year-old practice based in Stoughton. As a new mom, Dr. Koster knows there is an overwhelming amount of information on keeping kids happy and healthy, so she recently answered some of the most common dental questions from parents and patients:
Q: Why does my child have two rows of teeth?
Dr. Koster: Often referred to as “shark teeth,” these two rows occur most often in the lower front when the baby teeth haven’t fallen out yet and the permanent teeth are erupting on the tongue side of the baby teeth. This is very common in the 6-7 year old and is nothing to worry about. My best advice: Start wiggling those baby teeth out so the new ones can come into their space.
Q: Why do my child’s new teeth look yellow?
Dr. Koster: When the first permanent teeth erupt in a child’s mouth, they’re coming in next to other baby teeth that haven’t fallen out yet. Baby teeth are naturally very white (like little chiclet gum) because the enamel outer layer is more opaque than enamel of permanent teeth. New teeth are not actually yellow, they just appear more yellow in comparison to the baby teeth they’re sitting next to. As more permanent teeth erupt, this color discrepancy will be much less noticeable.
Q: What kind of toothpaste should my child use?
Dr. Koster: I always tell parents it doesn’t matter what brand or flavor as long as it contains fluoride. The AAPD recommends that as soon as the first tooth erupts (around 6 months) parents use a smear layer of fluoridated toothpaste on a small, soft toothbrush to brush the new teeth twice per day. More natural pastes are great as long as they have fluoride.
Q: Should I worry my child will swallow the toothpaste? Should we use a ‘training toddler’ product?
Dr. Koster: No. The small amount of fluoride in a smear layer of paste is just enough to be effective in protecting new teeth but not enough to harm your child or cause bellyaches. The minimal amount of fluoride will actually help developing permanent teeth grow into the mouth stronger than they would without it.
ARCH is among the first practices in the area to certify that its offices, equipment and products are 100% gluten-free. To make a Pediatric dental appointment in Stoughton, or an Orthodontic appointment at any of ARCH’s 9 offices between Boston and Hyannis, call (781) 209-6776. ARCH offers free initial consultation (a $500 value), and interest-free financing. Veterans and members of the military and their families receive a courtesy discount.

Orthodontists Offer Special Gift for Mother’s Day: Free Teeth Whitening Bonus for Moms
“Happiness is seeing your mother smile.”
(Issued Spring 2018) — How do you look in selfies? Do you love your Facebook smile?
“No gift is more thoughtful or unique, or will bring a new level of happiness and self-confidence, than an improved smile – on Mother’s Day and all the days to follow,” says Dr. Andrew Chase of ARCH Orthodontics. “It’s never too late for the gift of a beautiful smile!”
To celebrate Mother’s Day and provide a unique gift idea, ARCH announced a special offer for moms, including free initial consultation (a $500 value), interest-free financing., and free teeth whitening upon completion of their Orthodontic treatment (a $500 value.) Treatment must start by Father’s Day, June 17, 2018.
Many Orthodontists report a new trend: Moms and their teens getting braces together. The American Association of Orthodontists says there has been a 50 percent increase in adults getting braces over the past decade.
Dr. Chase says, “Many people in their 30s, 40s, 50s or older have an outdated idea of what Orthodontics is and aren’t aware of the latest tools and techniques. They recall metal braces but today they’re made from less conspicuous, more comfortable materials. Many celebrities choose Invisalign braces because they’re almost invisible, even in close-ups.” Invisalign eliminate the traditional wire and bracket system, substituting a series of custom-made clear plastic aligner trays to gradually straighten the teeth.
Today, with longer life expectancies and a greater awareness, everyone has a better chance of keeping teeth for their entire lifetime. Dr. Chase explains that among the most important steps for healthy teeth and overall health is plaque removal. Plaque helps bacteria stick to teeth which can lead to decay and gum disease/gingivitis. Research shows a possible connection between plaque and heart disease, dementia, and overall health issues. This is where Orthodontic treatment becomes important: Dr. Chase says, “Improved alignment and spacing makes plaque removal easier and more complete. And of course, it makes you more self-confident and photogenic!”
To complement services available to young patients, ARCH has added its first Pediatric Dentist at its Stoughton office, and for a limited time, is offering a Spring $99 New Dental Patient Special that includes Exam, X-rays, Fluoride and Cleaning — a savings of $250 (for patients with no insurance.) 8th Grade Gymnast Is Named ‘Patient of the Quarter’ by ARCH Orthodontics and Pediatric Dentistry
”Having a nice smile will make me want to smile more often.”
(Issued Spring 2018) — Several times each year, the ARCH Orthodontics and ARCH Pediatric Dentistry team chooses a patient who exemplifies their philosophy of giving 100% of their abilities, giving back to the community, and/or making the world a better place.
ARCH’s newest ‘Patient of the Quarter’ is Victoria Becker of Abington, a high honors eighth grader who competed in the recent Mass. State Finals of the USA Gymnastics. Although she did not place, mom Tracy says Victoria performed well in a tough, competitive field. Announcement of the Patient of the Quarter was made by ARCH’s Dr. Andrew Chase.
Nominated by Melissa Carter, the Team Leader at ARCH’s Bridgewater office, Victoria has focused on gymnastics since age four. Now, along with her studies and year-round softball, she practices floor and vault exercises 15 – 18 hours per week. Her idol is Laurie Hernandez, a member of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 2016 Summer Olympics who won gold in the team event and silver on the balance beam. “It’s a far-off dream, but I’d like to compete in college and at the Olympics,” she smiles.
Speaking of smiles, for the past year Victoria and her mom have entrusted ARCH to correct her mouth full of crowded and crooked teeth. She says. “My baby teeth stayed way too long.” Now, a year into braces, Victoria notices a big difference and an improved smile. ”Having a nice smile will make me want to smile more often. My new smile gives me more self-confidence. It’s one less thing to worry about in front of a crowd.”
Explaining ARCH’s decision to add Pediatric Dentistry, Dr. Chase says having both specialties under one roof is a natural synergy making collaboration easier and more convenient for everyone.” Pediatric Dentistry is only available at ARCH’s Stoughton office (781-209-6776).
Parents should call now to take advantage of the Spring $99 New Dental Patient Special that includes Exam, X-rays, Fluoride and Cleaning — a savings of $250 (for patients with no insurance.) For Orthodontic patients, ARCH offers free initial consultation (a $500 value), and interest-free financing.

Pediatric Dentist Complements Orthodontist’s Work
Long-time Ortho Practice ARCH Adds First Pediatric Dentist to Its Team
To Celebrate Spring: $99 New Dental Patient Special
(Issued Spring 2018) — ARCH Orthodontics, founded in 1974, never had a Pediatric Dentist on its team – until now.
Dr. Andrew Chase, who heads the practice founded by his father Dr. Robert Chavez, estimates that ARCH’s team has improved the smiles of over 25,000 patients – 75% of them children.
He says, “Both Orthodontists and Dentists are trained to help patients enjoy a lifetime of good dental and oral health, but they go about achieving this goal in different ways. Dentists – like our new team member Dr. Karissa Koster — are experts for regular oral hygiene exams and cleaning, taking care of cavities, treating gum disease, tooth decay, toothaches, and other oral health problems. Orthodontists are specialized Dentists trained to diagnose, prevent and correct structural problems, as well as crooked or misaligned teeth. Both require four years of dental school, two to three years of post-graduate training, plus extensive clinical certification and licensing.
“A Pediatric Dentist is a natural fit for ARCH, enabling us to provide all a young patient’s dental needs under one roof,” says Dr. Chase. “Prevention and treatment are the primary focus of Pediatric Dentists along with educating parents on how best to help with their children’s dental care. Dr. Koster is the perfect addition to our team as she shares ARCH’s commitment and passion for helping children and their families feel valued, loved, and cared for.”
Dr. Chase adds, “While children should visit their Dentist by age one or within 6 months after the first tooth, every child should have an Orthodontic evaluation by age 7 to detect and treat any problems before they become advanced. Dentists may refer youngsters to an Orthodontist once adult teeth begin to grow in. Now that collaboration is easier for everyone.” A Pediatric Dentist is an expert on unique dental needs of infants, children, teens and patients with special needs. If a child has developmental issues or needs to be seen in a hospital setting due to another medical condition, a Pediatric Dentist can provide that treatment or make the best referrals.” He suggests that parents ask about New Patient Specials for their children.
Dr. Chase says,, “Parents should call now to take advantage of the Spring $99 New Dental Patient Special that includes Exam, X-rays, Fluoride and Cleaning — a savings of $250 (for patients with no insurance.) For Orthodontic patients, ARCH offers free initial consultation (a $500 value), and interest-free financing.
