(Issued Spring 2018) — Several times each year, the ARCH Orthodontics and ARCH Pediatric Dentistry team chooses a patient who exemplifies their philosophy of giving 100% of their abilities, giving back to the community, and/or making the world a better place.
ARCH’s newest ‘Patient of the Quarter’ is Victoria Becker of Abington, a high honors eighth grader who competed in the recent Mass. State Finals of the USA Gymnastics. Although she did not place, mom Tracy says Victoria performed well in a tough, competitive field. Announcement of the Patient of the Quarter was made by ARCH’s Dr. Andrew Chase.
Nominated by Melissa Carter, the Team Leader at ARCH’s Bridgewater office, Victoria has focused on gymnastics since age four. Now, along with her studies and year-round softball, she practices floor and vault exercises 15 – 18 hours per week. Her idol is Laurie Hernandez, a member of the U.S. women’s gymnastics team at the 2016 Summer Olympics who won gold in the team event and silver on the balance beam. “It’s a far-off dream, but I’d like to compete in college and at the Olympics,” she smiles.
Speaking of smiles, for the past year Victoria and her mom have entrusted ARCH to correct her mouth full of crowded and crooked teeth. She says. “My baby teeth stayed way too long.” Now, a year into braces, Victoria notices a big difference and an improved smile. ”Having a nice smile will make me want to smile more often. My new smile gives me more self-confidence. It’s one less thing to worry about in front of a crowd.”
