Are you considering braces? Truth be told, depending on what type of braces you choose, we may get to see a lot of each other over an extended period of time. After you make the commitment to straighten your smile with ARCH Orthodontics and eventually get your braces on, you will need to continue to see your orthodontists for regular checkups. However, the frequency of your visits depends on the type of braces you choose. There will also be follow-up appointments when your treatment is completed.
Why Do I Need Follow-up Care at ARCH Orthodontics?
We understand that making the decision to straighten your smile takes time while you weigh options, cost, timing, etc. Once you agree to treatment, regular appointments will become a necessity so your ARCH Orthodontist can make adjustments and monitor your progress. Metal braces typically require a visit around every 6 to 8 weeks. We’ll always ask about your day, your smile, and your concerns at every visit before getting down to business and adjusting the wires that help move teeth into the optimal position.
How Long Will I Need Orthodontic Treatment?
Treatment time will obviously vary from person to person, depending on the severity of your individual case and what kind of braces you choose. Someone with an extremely poor bite or bad alignment will need to undergo more extensive treatment. Traditional metal braces can require up to 3 years to achieve desired results, while Invisalign® clear aligner therapy can be completed in as little as 12 months. After your orthodontic treatment is complete, you will need a retainer. Retainers do a fantastic job of preventing your teeth from shifting back to their previous positions. At this point, your trips to ARCH Orthodontics should occur less often. If for some reason you should damage or lose your retainer, it’s important to contact us right away so we can get it repaired or replaced for you.
