Dr. Ilya Garibyan
Award-winning oral and maxillofacial surgeon Ilya Garibyan, DMD, has joined the staff of ARCH Orthodontics as the 46 year-old practice expands its oral health offerings. He is seeing patients at the Westwood and Bridgewater offices. ARCH has eight offices between Boston and Cape Cod.
Dr. Andrew Chase, principal of ARCH, says, “We’re delighted to welcome Dr. Garibyan who dramatically expands our capabilities. Providing the highest level of care with multiple specialties is to the patient’s benefit. We often utilize the oral surgeon to complement Orthodontic treatment plans; doing so within our systems improves accessibility and speed of services. Our expanded services include dental implants, pathology, maxillofacial trauma, bone grafting, and cleft lip and palate.” For patients dealing with sleep apnea, Dr. Garibyan surgically removes excessive soft tissue that blocks the airway. For those with a jaw abnormality causing TMJ disorder, the oral surgeon provides relief by correcting the problem surgically.
Dr. Garibyan said, “I decided to pursue Oral Surgery as this specialty combines medicine, anesthesia and surgery. I’m passionate about corrective jaw surgery and airway management which involves treatment planning with Orthodontists. I’m excited to join ARCH as my surgical training complements Orthodontic services. We offer both Orthodontics and surgical procedures in office and hospital settings.”
A cum laude graduate of Boston University majoring in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, Dr. Garibyan earned his D.M.D. degree from BU’s Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He has hospital privileges at Tufts Medical Center in Boston, attending in oral and maxillofacial surgery. In 2018 and 2019, Dr. Garibyan participated as a volunteer in the Smile Bangladesh International Mission where he performed 26 cleft lip and palate surgeries. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, skiing, biking, and playing tennis.
